People’s Credit Union sponsored this inverted U hitch in Queen Anne’s Square, installed June 2014.

Does your business or neighborhood need a bike rack? Is bike parking missing from your favorite retail area, park, or square? Newport needs more bike parking to accommodate the increasing numbers of bicycles used for transportation, touring, and recreation.

Consider sponsoring a bike rack in the name of your business, family or other honoree. Sponsored bike racks provide needed parking, recognize bike friendly businesses and people, and support Bike Newport’s bicycle safety education in Newport.

We work closely with the City of Newport to ensure that all racks meet City codes and guidelines, including: 1) providing a six foot pedestrian clearance, 2) supporting the bicycle at two points for maximum stability, and 3) fabrication from weather-proof galvanized steel.

Several Bike Rack sponsorships are available:

– Standard bike hitch

– High Capacity Commercial Rack

– High Capacity Artistic/Custom Rack

Option 1: Sponsor a standard bike hitch

Show your support for Newport’s cycling community by sponsoring a bike hitch. A brass plaque proudly displays your company or honoree name, and with it your support of bicycling.

As the racks pop up, so will more sponsors. That’s just what happened when Don Jagoe, Newport resident and cycling enthusiast, saw the People’s Credit Union rack in Queen Anne Square. Don immediately contacted Bike Newport to sponsor one himself. “The fact that part of the funds supports Bike Newport programming is icing on the cake,” he shared. “Every time I see our youth engaged in bike mechanics and bike skills training, I’m happy. These programs are opening the world of bicycle health, freedom and confidence to our kids. And I was able to request a rack close to my favorite shops. Works for me!”
