The 2016 Elliot Kaminitz Father’s Day Ride took place on June 19, 2016.
Our community experienced a tragedy when Elliot Kaminitz, a frequent cyclist and advocate for safe cycling, was struck and killed by a motorist in June 2012 while riding on Memorial Blvd. Since that time, the city, state, and local advocates have worked together to ensure the reconfiguration of the road to better accommodate cyclists and calm traffic. The Kaminitz Family has dedicated themselves to working with Bike Newport toward improving cycling safety in our city. The annual Elliot Kaminitz Father’s Day Ride is held each Father’s Day at Fort Adams State Park. The 6, 10, and 25 mile loops around Ocean Drive on a bright June morning make for a gorgeous ride for cyclists of all ages and experience levels. We hope you’ll join us for the 5th annual ride in 2017.
