Bike to Rhode Island Philharmonic

July 15, 2026

Join the movement and enjoy the ride while helping reduce traffic congestion! Read on for routes, maps, Park & Bike locations, and more.

Rhode Island Philharmonic Outdoor Concert

August 9th, 5-8:30pm

The Preservation Society of Newport County is a proud supporter of the “Get There by Bike” initiative, partnering to bring high capacity bike racks, routes, and other helpful information to the Rhode Island Philharmonic Outdoor Concert! On August 9th, ditch the car and roll up to Rosecliff for a free performance from Rhode Island’s premier symphonic orchestra. In doing so, you are decreasing traffic congestion, parking stresses, and contributing to a more healthy, sustainable community.

Planning your route

You can plan your route using your local knowledge, your favorite bike GPS, or a recommended route shown here. Keep in mind that Newport has MANY one way streets, so your route GOING may be different from your RETURN route. Be sure to have a bright headlight and a flashing rear light for your return trip after dark. See and be seen!

Park & Bike

Coming from out of town? No problem. You can park and leave your car anywhere in Newport and Middletown where long-term parking is permitted (be sure to check signs for restrictions), or you can head straight to Newport’s designated Park & Bike lots. See the suggested routes below using Ride with GPS!

Park & Bike to Rosecliff – 3 miles ~ approx 15 min

YMCA to Rosecliff – 3.5 miles ~ approx 20 min

This map is to orient you to the location of the venue in Newport in
relation to the Park & Bike lots. Please use these GPS links or your own for navigation.

Helpful Tips for biking to Rosecliff

  • Bring LIGHTS, a LOCK, and a HELMET.
  • Ride carefully, follow rules of the road, pay extra attention to motorists, and give yourself time to get there safely.
  • Newport is known for its history and beauty – less so for the condition of the roads. Watch for pot holes and ruts!
  • If you would like to support Bike Newport’s vital nonprofit community work, you can donate HERE. Many thanks!

About Bike Newport

Supporting Bike Newport is supporting more and better biking in Newport and beyond. Our mission is to make it possible for more people to bike more often, by ensuring that biking is safe, inviting and an easy choice for both transportation and recreation. When we’re not busy bringing bike lanes, Park & Bike, bike routes, bike maps, and bike parking to major destinations – we’re busy teaching bike education in the schools and community, building bike culture, and fighting the good fight to make it possible for more people to choose biking! We’re continuously working to improve and encourage biking for everyone in Rhode Island and beyond – Thanks for being part of the solution!
