May 19th is National Bike to Work Day and Bike Newport is celebrating!
Are you ready to give up the stress of sitting in traffic and other frustrations of your daily car commute? It’s time to ditch the car and hop on a bike! This is the day to give biking to work a try.
Bike to Work Day encourages people to incorporate cycling into their daily routine and helps to raise awareness about the benefits of biking. Biking is good for the environment, good for you, and good for your wallet.
The festivities start with our Bike Commuter Breakfast from 7-9 a.m. at Newport City Hall (43 Broadway). You can arrange to meet your co-workers, fuel up with breakfast, and enjoy cycling camaraderie. Don’t let a little rain stop you – If that happens we’ll meet right across the street at Bike Newport’s office (62 Broadway).
Later in the day, we’ll reconvene at City Hall at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate bike-friendly progress and award the Bike-Friendly Business of the Year. At 5 p.m., we’ll embark on a group bike ride around downtown Newport. Circling the city with friends and fellow cyclists is a fun way to end the day. Or head down to the final days of the Ocean Race Village at Fort Adams.
Everyone is invited to participate – so encourage your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors! Spread the word on social media using the hashtags #BiketoWorkDay #BikeMonth #BikeNewportRI #NewportRI.
