Elliots Ride for Everyone 2026 Recap

June 11, 2026

Saturday, June 6th, 2026, Newport’s iconic Ocean Drive closed to cars and opened to people biking, walking, rolling and strolling – for the annual Elliot’s Ride for Everyone.

At the bottom of this post, you’ll find a delightful gallery of images and videos that capture the day.

The perfect weather complemented the fun as people of all ages and abilities pedaled bikes, pushed strollers, rollerbladed, and hiked along Ocean Avenue and Hazard Road – without cars. The scenic route includes coastal roads, salt marshes, heron and osprey nesting areas, boulders, and the rocky and sandy coastline, all peppered with majestic properties and vistas.

Participants were first welcomed by Newport Mayor Charlie Holder, Superintendent of Schools Colleen Jermain, safe cycling advocate Renee Kaminitz, and US Representative Gabe Amo, before the “open road” began.

Elliot’s Ride for Everyone honors Elliot Kaminitz – a bicycle enthusiast and safe cycling advocate who lost his life in 2012 while riding near Easton’s Beach. The open road experience demonstrates a safe space for people to enjoy a beautiful outdoor experience separated from motor vehicles, while gathering support for longer-term infrastructure improvements.

Anyone who participated in Elliot’s Ride for Everyone is encouraged to share their impressions in this brief survey.

There are many to thank for this incredibly successful event.
