On Thursday, October 23, 2025, the community will gather for the annual Evening for Education: in support of Newport’s Public Education Foundation and celebrating the people and organizations who make Newport’s schools stronger, brighter, and full of possibility. The location is Innovate Newport at 513 Broadway.
Bike Newport is very honored to be the 2025 recipient of the Noreen Stonor Drexel Unsung Hero Award.
From the Newport Public Education Foundation award letter:
“Bike Newport has been quietly and consistently transforming Newport into a safer, healthier, and more accessible city for cyclists of all ages and abilities since 2011. While the sight of more bicycles on the streets is a visible outcome, it is the organizations’ deep-rooted community-level work that truly earns you this recognition.
It is your combination of tireless advocacy and humble, hands-on community service makes Bike Newport a true Unsung Hero. You are not just promoting bicycles; you are building a more connected, equitable, and sustainable community, one pedal stroke at a time.”
We hope you can join us for this “Evening for Education” where the night’s awardees include:
Partner in Education: Team FAME at ITHOF
Friend of Education: Ruth Barge Thumbtzen
Unsung Hero: Bike Newport
Teacher of the Year: Sybil Grayko

An Evening for Education is also a time to come together—to meet neighbors, share stories, and connect with the teachers, parents, and friends who are shaping the future of Newport Public Schools.
We hope you’ll join us for a night of celebration, inspiration, and gratitude for all who help our students thrive.
