As a participant in the Volvo Ocean Race Exploration Zone, Bike Newport is committed to the #cleanseas pledge and is doing everything we can to reduce disposable plastic. When you visit be sure to bring your re-usable water bottles/coffee mugs! The Volvo Ocean Race would like all Newport residents and businesses to commit to it too. It takes less than a minute. Go ahead…
Take the #cleanseas Pledge
Bike Newport is one of the members of the volunteer-driven Sustainability Committee, Transportation Committee and with an exhibit in the Exploration Zone for the Volvo Ocean Race Newport Stopover. Along with local environmental organizations Sailors for the Sea, 11th Hour Racing, RI-DEM, Fort Adams Trust, Clean Ocean Access, Sail Newport, and Newport Biodiesel, we are aiming to make the Newport stopover the most environmentally responsible port of the whole race! To do this, the stopover will deploy numerous strategies that reduce waste, educate attendees, encourage alternative transportation, use environmentally friendly products, and much more. These strategies all require a team of dedicated individuals, who can help the stopover meet its goal and help make Newport a leader in environmental sustainability! But we can’t do it without your help.
