Where will the 2024 10-Spot Ride take us? That’s the question participants wonder each year, right up to the moment they set out on this delightfully unique 10-stop bike ride – to enjoy lovely Newport homes and gardens, tasty food and mocktails, and lots of live music.
Ever since the inaugural 10-Spot in 2020, the event’s locations have been kept mum. The experience is now a favorite summer tradition, drawing urban explorers, history buffs, foodies and cyclists from across New England and beyond. Nearly two-thirds of this year’s participants are returning 10-Spot Riders! Discover what keeps them coming back for more, and secure your tickets today before we sell out.
Multiply the Fun by Creating a 10-Spot Group
This is an experience you’re going to want to share. Our registration form makes it simple to either purchase additional tickets for your group members, or they can register separately and reference any name in the group to ensure you’re all assigned to the same “Starting Spot”. With more than 30 groups large and small in the works for this year’s 10-Spot Ride, it has become a fun feature of the event. Plenty also ride solo or in pairs … there’s no wrong way to 10-Spot.
Design Your Custom 10-Spot Adventure
You get to choose your own routes and timing. We assign your “Starting Spot” for check-in, and the rest is up to you. With your event booklet as your guide, go in any sequence you choose, and spend your time as you wish using the five hours (11am to 4pm) to ride, relax, and enjoy! The riding is low-key, and the distances are very modest, so the 10-Spot Ride is suitable for all who ride.
What About the “Spots”?
These are our carefully guarded secret! We won’t spoil the surprise! But we can promise you they are lovely – and as wonderful as the generous hosts who share their properties for this delightful adventure. Past “Spots” have included iconic mansions, lovely downtown inns, classic colonials, stunning sea views, secret gardens, and even a tall ship! This year’s Spots will be revealed when you check-in at your “Starting Spot”.
In the meantime, here’s a preview of some of the great local restaurants providing lite bites and mocktails, and the talented musicians completing the vibe at each Spot:

How It Works
On the afternoon before the event (Friday afternoon, August 23rd), you will receive an e-mail that reveals your assigned starting ‘Spot’, which is where you’ll arrive for Saturday morning check-in anytime after 10:30am. Additional riders that you purchase tickets for, as well as other riders in your group, will be assigned to the same starting Spot.
When you check in on Saturday morning, August 24th, that’s when the fun surprise of the remaining nine Spots will be revealed. You’ll receive an event guide which includes a map, GPS codes, and descriptions of the 10 Spots. You’ll also receive a commemorative cup and bamboo flatware for the day, to help minimize waste.
You can then plan your day while enjoying your first Spot. You’ll have from 11am to 4pm to enjoy all the day offers, riding from one location to the next, in whatever order you like, and stay at each as long as you like. It works out to about 15-20 minutes per Spot if you want to experience all 10 Spots. At each Spot you’ll enjoy a beautiful location, tasty treats, a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage, and sweet tunes. We strive for lots of variety in all that is offered!
You’ll Support a Great Cause
All proceeds from the 10-Spot Ride support Bike Newport’s mission to create the conditions that lead to more people biking more often, and to ensure that bicycling is a viable, safe, and comfortable primary choice for transportation and recreation. Lots more information at bikenewportri.org.
Rain Date
There is no rain date for this event. If the event has to be cancelled due to weather, we will ask all participants to kindly convert their tickets to a donation as a tax-deductible contribution to Bike Newport. The 10-Spot Ride is Bike Newport’s principal annual fundraiser, providing key support for many of our valued programs including In-School Bike Safety Education, Summer Bike Camp, the Community Open Garage, and so much more. Thank you for supporting our work!
“It’s really become my favorite event of the summer!”
“It’s wonderful how the 10-Spot Ride brings together fun and beauty in people, food, music, and hidden gem locations – all connected by a delightful bike ride around Newport. Bike Newport does it so well – for the participants and also for the hosts, restaurants, and entertainers. They are thoughtful about variety and options in food and music. When one of my friends got a flat, the volunteers had him back on the road in no time. He said ‘Wow, what a first class experience!’ I so agree!”
