Team Bike Newport sets off in Woonsocket on their 110k/62mi “Metric Century”
On September 13th, Riders from New England and beyond rolled into Newport’s King Park at the end of the annual Bike to the Beach charity ride. The event brings together seasoned cyclists, new riders, and supporters — united not just by the love of the ride, but by a shared mission: raising awareness and funds for autism and disability-support programs.
Thanks to the riders of Team Bike Newport and all the donors who helped us to reach our $15,000 goal!

Participants could choose among three fully supported route options: 100 miles (starting from Boston), 62 miles (starting in Woonsocket), or 30 miles (starting in Bristol). For the 13th year running, Team Bike Newport rode the 62-mile metric century (100km)!

Riders of all ages and abilities pedaled side by side, sharing encouragement. Along the way, the riders were supported with rest stops complete with comfort, first aid, and refreshment.

Team Bike Newport rode with both heart and ambition. Together, the team raised more than $15,000 in support of inclusive programs at Bike Newport serving the autism and special-needs community. 87% of these donations come directly to Bike Newport’s programs, and the balance is shared with Bike to the Beach in support of initiatives nationwide.
The rolling Rhode Island roads, vistas and final approach to the coastal celebration at King Park made for a ride both challenging and beautiful!
Bike to the Beach New England raised a total of $300,000 toward local autism and disability support organizations – see WJAR TV coverage HERE.
