Your Feedback is Needed

August 27, 2025

Do you bike in Newport, want to bike in Newport, or have thoughts and experiences about biking in Newport? Your feedback is valuable and needed.

Take the short survey in English
Responda la breve encuesta en español (Spanish version)

You can help Bike Newport and the City of Newport renew and upgrade our status as a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) – we recently submitted Newport’s application to the League of American Bicyclists.

Since 2013, Newport has been a Bronze status Bicycle Friendly Community. Today, the City is well-positioned to advance to the Silver level based on progress made in all five areas of focus:

  • Education
  • Equity and Accessibility
  • Encouragement
  • Engineering
  • Evaluation and Planning
What does this mean for Newport?

Top level bicycle friendly status is associated with many benefits to the community:

  • improved health
  • economic benefits
  • the environment
  • improved transportation
  • carbon reduction
  • grant funding (which benefits all of the above!)

Bicycle Friendly Community is a national program that recognizes and ranks American towns and cities from Bronze to Platinum levels.

The review process identifies positive practices, provides a roadmap to improving conditions for bicycling, and gives guidance to help establish a community vision to make a better, bikeable community a reality.

How You Can Help

Community feedback helps the League and the City to better understand current bicycling conditions and potential areas for improvement. This public survey invites the community to provide their input. Community participation is crucial! The survey takes less than 15 minutes and all questions are optional.

We want to hear about your experiences and perceptions of bicycling in the community!

The survey is open through Sunday, October 5th, 2025. Bicycle Friendly Community results are expected in December.

Prizes!

Want some swag? Share the survey and tag @bikenewportri on your social media to be eligible to win some great prizes: a “Get There By Bike” t-shirt (5 winners) and a Grand Prize Bike Tune-Up ($125 value).

Questions or input? contact Chris Burich, Advocacy Associate at Bike Newport, at (401) 619-4900 or chrisburich@bikenewportri.org.

Thank you for sharing your input and helping to create a Bicycle Friendly America for everyone!
