CONGRATULATIONS! to the winners of the
Get There By Bike Bike Rack Contest
Get There By Bike is our initiative to make biking a viable transportation choice to Aquidneck Island events and destinations. The goal is to help reduce traffic congestion by encouraging and supporting people to park their cars and switch to biking and walking.
Thanks to the generous support of 11th Hour Racing, seven Aquidneck Island businesses will receive new bike racks so they can invite and encourage more people to bike to their destinations.
Winning locations will also receive support from Bike Newport to apply for Bicycle Friendly Business status through the Bicycle Friendly America program of the League of American Bicyclists.
The winning businesses will receive 1, 2, or 3 of the “inverted U” style racks pictured in the image above. Delivery and installation of the racks should take place in June.
Many thanks to 11th Hour Racing for funding this important effort to increase bike parking islandwide!
