Tips for biking to THoF events

  • Bring LIGHTS, a LOCK, and a HELMET. After dark; your lights will make you SAFE and VISIBLE.
  • Expect heavy traffic on Newport’s streets. Ride carefully, follow rules of the road, pay extra attention to motorists, and give yourself time to get there safely.
  • Newport is known for its history and beauty – but not so much for the condition of the roads. Watch for pot holes and ruts!
  • There is no charge to park your bike at the event, though donations are welcome and encouraged! Your donations support Bike Newport’s vital nonprofit community work.

PARK & BIKE:

Coming from out of town? No problem. You can park and leave your car anywhere in Newport where long-term parking is permitted (be sure to check signs for restrictions), or you can head straight to “Park & Bike” lots located right off the Pell Bridge and at Newport County YMCA. Please see maps below.

  • Bicycle route from YMCA to Inernational Tennis Hall of Fame – 2.1 miles
  • Bicycle route from Pell Bridge Lot to International Tennis Hall of Fame – 1.7 miles
  • Bicycle route from CCRI to International Tennis Hall of Fame – 2.9 miles
  • Bicycle route from Gateway Center to International Tennis Hall of Fame – 1 mile

We want to know!

Please tell us about your ride – we want to know – We’ll use all of the responses to support plans to make biking a safer, more comfortable, and easier choice for everyone who wants to ride – thank you!

About Bike Newport

Supporting Bike Newport is supporting more and better biking in Newport and beyond. Our mission is to make it possible for more people to bike more often, by ensuring that biking safe and comfortable and an easy choice for both transportation and recreation. When we’re not busy bringing bike lanes, Park & Bike, bike routes, bike maps, and bike parking to major destinations – we’re busy teaching bike education in the schools and community, building bike culture, and fighting the good fight to make it possible for more people to choose biking! We’re continuously working to improve and encourage biking for everyone in Rhode Island and beyond – Thanks for being part of the solution!
