What is a BPAC?

RIDE ISLAND UNIVERSITY presents: BPACs 101 for Aquidneck Island

Wednesday, January 29th 5:30-7:00pm
Middletown Fire Department
239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI

Let’s talk about Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commissions and how they can benefit Newport, Middletown, and Portsmouth.

BPACs may be the most effective way for citizens to help municipalities make progress on more and better accommodation for people to walk, bike and use transit – resulting in healthier and safer transportation and recreation options, while improving environment, economy and sustainability for all.

This meeting is for people who would like to see improvements in the infrastructure and amenities for people to bike, walk and use transit easily, comfortably, and safely – to get wherever we need and want to go. Whether or not you would be willing to serve on your town’s BPAC – if you are interested in improvement – please join us for this discussion. Refreshments will be served.

  • What is a BPAC?
  • How do we establish a BPAC in our town?
  • What is the role of BPAC members?
  • What are some BPAC priorities?
  • What are potential BPAC outcomes?
  • What support is available to help a BPAC be especially productive?
  • How can BPACs in Newport, Middletown, and Portsmouth work together to elevate and accomplish shared and connected priorities?
