Father’s Day Ride 2016 – Perfect weather, perfect ride.

June 20, 2016

The Elliot Kaminitz Father’s Day Ride 2016 was a delightful event. More than 200 people gathered to celebrate bicycle safety and to ride together along the ocean.

The day started with bagpipes, bagels, coffee, sun salutation yoga warmups and warm greetings from partner organizations Bike Newport and the Newport County YMCA. Speakers included Elliot’s wife, Renee Kaminitz, Newport City Councilor Justin McLaughlin, and US Congressman David Cicilline – sharing news of bike friendly progress in our community. Thanks to all!

Fort Adams Trust fired starting shots for our 25 milers, 10 milers, 6 milers, 2-mile Harbor Walkers, and the “Tour de Fort” kids. The Ocean Loop was filled with pedal happiness as all cyclists from 7 to 75 had a fabulous time – managing even the ocean headwinds with smiles.

Returns were greeted with cowbells, music, massage, and Persian delicacies.

Please share your thanks when you can with all of our partners, sponsors and contributors:
