Let’s Help Name the New Bike Path!

October 10, 2024

text: Name the New Bike path Three smiling riders on the new bike path

Have you ridden the new bike path on Aquidneck Island?

This beautiful trail runs from downtown Newport near the Transit Center on America’s Cup Avenue about 2.5 miles to West Main Road in Middletown. The path runs along the railway corridor and the historic cemeteries of Farewell Street, circles the roundabout at Admiral Kalbfus, and continues safely separated from vehicles for almost the full length of Connell/Coddington Highway. We will work to grow the path with new segments for people to ride and walk safely – to schools, work, shops, parks and more.

UPDATE

Poll is now open for you to VOTE to Name the Path! From November 5th to 12th. See the finalists and cast your vote here:

What? The new bike path does not have a name! Let’s put our heads together and help!

Do you have great photos from the yet-to-be-named awesome new Bike Path?
We’d love those, too!!!

Thank you!

Come November, we’ll invite everyone to vote for their favorites. Polling will open on – you guessed it – Election Day! Then, we’ll share the community favorites with the decision-makers at the State. 👍 👍 👍

Here are the ideas collected from you so far. What do you think?? Are you inspired to ride?
It’s the best time of year to hop in the saddle and give that path a whirl. You may just come up with the best name while you’re riding on it ❤️🚲❤️
