Peter Friedrichs, Esq., AICP, is a land use attorney and co-founder of Libra Planners, a Providence-based urban planning firm. Peter served as City Planner for Newport, RI, from 2019 to 2021, and Director of Planning and Economic Development for Central Falls, RI, from 2015 to 2018. Peter has held several other private sector planning, design, construction, development, and consulting roles. Peter has written many municipal ordinances and has been involved in the passage of several state laws. He has been recognized with the Donald Hunter Award for the top economic development project in the United States as well as by regional planning, smart growth, and new urbanism organizations. Peter wrote the northeastern United States' first green and complete streets ordinance. Peter grew up across the street from a New England Mountain Biking Association facility in New Hampshire and spent his college summers working at a bicycle shop on Martha's Vineyard. Peter lives in Providence's West End with his young family and rides his bike as much as he can.
