You Can be a Part of The Movement! Give Today.
Here on Aquidneck Island, the wheels are in motion, and communities are embracing biking and walking as essential parts of daily life.
In 2026, be a part of the movement. With your help, we can support island-wide bicycle safety education, more Get There By Bike partners, and safer streets through ordinance updates.
When you give, you’ll advance bike access to bridges and the rail corridor and a connected bike network that links more people to more places.
The future of mobility on Aquidneck Island is taking shape and everyone is benefiting!

Every day, more people are choosing to ride and walk. The streets are becoming places where movement feels joyful, stress-free, connected. Every day, you get us closer to a community where everyone – riders and non-riders – can benefit from streets designed for people.

When We Ride, Community Thrives
Kids across Aquidneck Island are learning how to ride with confidence and independence. We’re providing bike safety education for all 3rd and 5th graders in Newport, while growing our programs in Middletown and Portsmouth. We’re leading summer bike camp adventures across the island. Our program Ciclistas welcomes new multi-language learners with bikes, safety gear, skills and friendship, growing the movement one rider at a time.

For adults and teens, we’re supporting the development of a clear e-bike policy as well as offering e-bike education so that everyone – cyclists and pedestrians– feels comfortable and confident on the road.
Community Experiences are Bringing People Together
Businesses in the Get There By Bike program are reducing traffic and parking stress by encouraging customers to arrive by bike, with clear signage and easy-to-use bike parking waiting for them. Open-street events like Elliot’s Ride and the Sakonnet Coastal Bike & Stroll give people of all ages a chance to feel the joy and freedom of car-free streets.

At the Community Bike Garage, volunteers refurbish and distribute bikes while teaching essential skills to kids, teens, and adults. Our partnership with the Newport Police Department and Champions for Safe Biking helps implement demo lanes, strengthen bike and e-bike safety, and expand access across the island.

Your Support Moves Us All Forward
In the first 10 months of 2025, we distributed 401 bikes, welcomed 1,231 visits to the Community Bike Garage, taught 938 students in school programs, supported 2,090 riders to the Folk Festival via the bike lane, and trained 290 people in free e-bike classes.
This movement is not a moment — this movement is momentum.
When you support Bike Newport, you’re not just helping people ride bikes.
You’re helping shape a future where movement is joyful, streets are welcoming, and every person has access to the freedom of safe mobility.
