Sidewalk Parade & Tree Path Project

April 13, 2018

SIDEWALK PARADE & PICNIC!

Saturday, April 21st!

10:30am – 1pm : Florence Gray Center & Miantonomi Park

The Sidewalk Parade represents a collaboration between Newport Health Equity Zone and Salve Regina University, now in its second year. A moving work of art, it is created through the collaborative vision of Newport’s North End residents, local artists, and art students from Salve Regina University, and facilitated by Salve Professor of Visual Arts Susannah Strong. Bike Newport has a decorated tree in the parade, carefully decorated and representing the work we do. The Sidewalk Parade will wind through the neighborhoods of the North End and will feature musicians, flags, banners, costumes and more. All are invited to join in, walking in unity to celebrate and embody this year’s theme “Hope” as well as individual and shared visions for a better tomorrow. The Parade will feature live music by the Extraordinary Rendition Band, costumes, masks, banners, flags and fun! Come make some noise and celebrate HOPE!

10:30am LINE UP at the Florence Gray Center for the Parade!

11:00am PARADE STARTS and winds around the North End

11:45 (or so) PARADE ARRIVES at Miantonomi Park
