May is Bike Month and sunny skies and fragrant breezes have us all out on two wheels. No reason to limit it to weekends and errands. Let’s all bike to work!
Friday 5/16 is the day when Bike Newport and RIPTA will greet you outside City Hall for commuter breakfast snacks and swag in the morning. And then we’ll be back at the end of day for announcements and a group ride!

If you can’t roll out directly from home, you can take our your bike on the bus or drive into town – and then pop on your bike! HERE is some helpful information:
INCLUDING: Everyone can now use the awesome new Park & Ride lot (or as we like to call it, the Park & BIKE lot!) Right off the Pell Bridge, thus multimodal lot is serviced by RIPTA lines 14 and 24L, and you can find more Park & Bike lots HERE.
Adjacent to the lot is the short and scenic 3/4 mile shared use path to ride into downtown Newport. Named by the community, the “Aquidneck Island Greenway” is awaiting UDOT name approval.
After work, we’ll meet again in front of City Hall at 4pm to give community updates about bicycling around Newport. Stay tuned to see who gets the Bike Friendly Business Award of the year! At 4:30, we’ll head out on a short group ride around town to celebrate Bike to Work Day.
