Summer 2026: Get There By Bike Update

May 18, 2026

Are you ready to Get There By Bike?

“Get There By Bike” is Bike Newport’s initiative to make biking a safe, fun, and inviting transportation choice to Aquidneck Island events and destinations. The goal is to reduce traffic congestion, parking stress, and carbon emissions by making it easier for people to ditch their cars and switch to biking and walking. We are thankful for the generous support of 11th Hour Racing and the de Ramel Foundation – helping everyone to Get There By Bike!

“Get There By Bike” builds upon existing collaborations with marquee events like the Folk and Jazz Festivals and newportFILM Summer Series and welcomed new partners including the International Tennis Hall of Fame and their “Hall of Fame Open,” Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival, and Norman Bird Sanctuary and their Harvest Fair.

The list of participating events and destinations continues to grow, leading to more and more people choosing to ride bicycles for a more pleasant, affordable, and sustainable island experience.

You can Get There by Bike to so many places…

Clockwise from top left: Newport Bermuda Race Starting Line Festival, Newport Oyster & Chowder Festival. Newport Kite Festival, Newport 10-Miler, Community Cookery, Norman Bird Sanctuary, You can Get There by Bike to many more places, too! Check out the destinations page for more info.

Bike Newport is on hand to support the partners and people biking in a variety of ways

  • Ensuring that bike parking is provided
  • Helping to choose and set up bike parking
  • Helping destinations and events to feature and promote biking
  • Providing branded flags to mark “Get There by Bike” locations
  • Cross-supporting with dedicated social media and blogs

Looking Ahead to Summer 2026

Building on the successes of 2025, we’re expanding our partnerships and serving more people who are looking to “Get There By Bike.”

If you know (or are!) a destination looking to join the movement – find more information HERE. And reach out to Chris Burich with your questions.

We’re ready to add your events and destination to the growing Get There By Bike partner page.
