ELLIOT’S RIDE A Ride for EVERYONE!  Sunday June 10th, 2018, 9:00am-1.00pm Beginning and ending at Fort Adams State Park. Elliot’s Ride for Everyone is a FREE, all-day bicycle event for every age, every skill, everyone! Come out and ride along Newport’s scenic ocean coastline! Whether it’s your first time, or your favorite ride, this is the day to celebrate the joy of bike riding together. RI Bridge Bike Shuttle

It’s really happening! Partners Bike Newport, RI Turnpike and Bridge AuthorityDiscover Newport, and the YMCA together presented a new project to get bicyclists across the Newport Pell and Jamestown Verrazano Bridges. Beginning June 23rd a free service will be in place on Saturdays through the summer season to shuttle bicyclists from Newport to Jamestown to North Kingstown, making three rounds each day. It’s the month we’ve all been waiting for. May is Bike Month. We’ve got lots of events lined up from socials and rides, to Ladies Night and Garaje en Espanol, not forgetting Bike to School Day and Bike to Work Day. Coming soon  – Newport’s Big Blue Big Barn!

Modeled on the successes of the Red Shed in Olneyville, the new Bike Barn will dramatically increase the size of Bike Newport’s current North Side Bike Library – from one 20’ container to two 40’ containers – quadrupling the size. Clean up of the site adjacent to Miantonomi Park has already begun, ground work is happening very soon, and plans to have programs this summer are well underway. 2017 was an amazing year of progress and we have you and all of our partners, supporters and participants to thank. We reached our end of year campaign goal of $25,000 which was matched by a generous donor! With a successful campaign we’re ready to take on the New Year  with continued progress on the First Mile Bikeway, city infrastructure, safe road sharing education, and so much more.
