Community Bike Garage

Fixing your own bike is empowering!
Would you like to learn more about how to repair and maintain your bike? Or do you have that knowledge and enjoy sharing? Either way, join us at the Community Bike Garage! You’ll find shared knowledge, helping hands, and welcoming camaraderie around bikes.
Come by anytime during our winter hours:
Monday & Thursday 2:00 to 7:00 pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 2:00 to 5:00 pm
Entrance to the Bike Garage is at the back door of Bike Newport, 62 Broadway in Newport.
Gender Equity Mechanics (GEM) Nights

Join us for GEM Night – special evenings of basic bike repair and maintenance for women, trans/femme, and nonbinary folks who feel comfortable in women-centered spaces.
Gender Equity Mechanics (GEM) is a time and space to gather about bikes and biking, learn by watching and doing, and just to hang out and take a breath. GEM is a supportive atmosphere for sharing, learning, practicing and relaxing. Drop in, pick up some tools (or not), and enjoy a mocktail with other folks who enjoy biking and bikes.
When: THIRD FRIDAY of the month, 5pm-7pm
Where: Community Bike Garage – Newport headquarters, 62 Broadway in Newport. Enter through the back door.
For more information, contact Community Educator Gail Ruscetta: gail@bikenewportri.org or 401-619-4900

E-Bike Classes

FREE e-bike classes continue through the winter.
If you have an e-bike, check out Bike Newport’s free e-bike safety program: You Have the Power! In this 2-part course, you’ll learn vital safety skills and spend time practicing them. Classes are available in English and Spanish. Please contact instructor Gail Ruscetta with your questions: gail@bikenewportri.org.
- Part 1 is discussion. You will not need to bring your e-bike to participate.
- Part 2 is on-bike practice, including a group ride. You will need to bring your own e-bike.
Part 1 classes take place on the first Thursday of every month at 5:30pm at Bike Newport. Visit our e-bike page to learn more and to register.
Bike Donations Needed

We’re on the lookout for kid’s bikes! After giving away 100 lovingly restored children’s bikes in December, we need to restock! Learn more about our Holiday Bike Giveaway and help us continue to supply bikes to community children year-round.
Donations of child and adult bicycles to Bike Newport keeps bikes in circulation and ensures that everyone who wants a bike can have one! We accept used bicycles that are in good condition and can be repaired to again be road-worthy. Flat tires, gears that don’t work, and brakes that need help are all welcome! Bikes with a lot of rust are generally not accepted.
Not sure? Email info@bikenewportri.org with photos of the bike and we’ll determine if it’s road-ready, fixable, or suitable for parts. Visit our Donations page to learn more about bike donations.
Thank you!
